THE STORY

A Career Built Between Two Cultures and Thirty Years of Service

The Beginning · Bethesda, Maryland

Born and Raised in Maryland

John Edmead was born and raised in Bethesda, Maryland. Growing up as the son of Dominican immigrants, he lived between two cultures — American and Dominican — and from an early age understood that language, identity, and opportunity are deeply connected.

That upbringing shaped everything: his passion for education, his commitment to helping families navigate systems not designed with them in mind, and his ability to build trust across cultural and linguistic boundaries.

High School · Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Formative Years Abroad

John attended high school in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic — an experience that deepened his Spanish fluency and gave him a firsthand understanding of immigrant family life, cultural transition, and the importance of clear communication across languages.

He returned to Maryland with a bilingual foundation and a bicultural perspective that would later become central to his professional identity.

1991 – 1995 · University of Florida

University of Florida

John attended the University of Florida from 1991 to 1995, building the foundation for his career in business, leadership, and client service.

1995 · Maryland

Back to Maryland — Enterprise Rent-A-Car

After his time at the University of Florida, John returned to Maryland and launched his professional career with Enterprise Rent-A-Car — a company known for developing strong business professionals from the ground up.

He quickly advanced into management, building expertise in customer service, operations, team leadership, and relationship management that would carry directly into his mortgage career.

1997 · Orlando, Florida

Transferred to Orlando

John accepted a transfer with Enterprise Rent-A-Car that brought him to Orlando, Florida. He arrived on February 7, 1997. Central Florida has been home ever since.

“I arrived in Orlando on February 7, 1997. I’ve been building something here every day since.”

Fall 1997 · Central Florida

Entering the Mortgage Industry

In the fall of 1997, John obtained his mortgage broker’s license and entered the mortgage industry — finding his calling in the process. What began as a career pivot became a nearly three-decade commitment to helping families navigate one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.

Since 1997, John has continuously served individuals and families across Florida and the Southeast: first-time homebuyers, move-up buyers, self-employed borrowers, real estate investors, professional sports athletes, military veterans, Hispanic homebuyers, Realtors, builders, and housing industry professionals.

Years of Service · Florida & the Southeast

Building the Bilingual Bridge

As a bilingual mortgage professional fluent in English and Spanish, John has become a trusted resource for both English-speaking and Hispanic communities throughout Florida. His work continues to expand beyond loan origination into mortgage education, homeownership strategy, financial literacy, and helping families build long-term wealth through real estate.

He has learned, through thousands of conversations, that the gap between a family and homeownership is rarely financial. It’s informational. It’s the language the process is conducted in. It’s the trust — or the absence of it — that either opens a door or keeps it closed.

“The gap between a family and homeownership is rarely just financial. It’s informational. It’s the language the process is conducted in.”
